Chief of Staff
Retired U.S. Army Special Forces Colonel Edward Christy Short is the Chief of Staff for Nicholant Enterprises. He is responsible for planning and directing all administrative, financial, and operational activities for the company. Col. Short's professional background as a proven leader, experienced planner and trusted advisor at the highest levels in the U.S. military makes him uniquely capable of providing the company, and its clients, with strategic oversight and operational guidance on safety and security projects of high importance.
Col. Short brings a wealth of program management and leadership experience to Nicholant. After a thirty-year Army career, he worked as a consultant, planner, project manager, and leader providing security and management guidance to governmental and security forces in dynamic, fast - paced environments around the world. In addition to these skills, he brings an extensive background in building high performing teams, developing comprehensive strategies, and implementing complex programs in the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle-East and Africa.
In the Army as an infantry and Special Forces officer, Col. Short commanded units ranging in size and complexity from mechanized infantry platoons to a Special Forces battalion to the U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico. He also served in some key staff positions including Commandant of the Counterinsurgency Center at Camp Taji Iraq, a Division Chief in the Special Operations Directorate on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, Washington DC., and as the European Command's Deputy Director of the Joint Counter-Terrorism Planning Group. A seasoned and trusted advisor, Col. Short has a well-earned reputation for providing senior executives, including the U.S. Secretary of Defense, with timely, frank, and insightful guidance.
Col. Short is a graduate of the Georgia Military College and completed his BA in Political Science at Columbus State University. He earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Shippensburg University, PA. and a Masters of Strategic Studies from the Army War College. His military education includes; Infantry Officer Basic and Armor Officer Advanced Courses, Mortar Platoon Leaders Course, Command and General Staff Officers Course, Airborne School, Ranger School, Jumpmaster Course, Pathfinder Course, Air Assault School, and the Special Forces Qualification Course.
