Retired Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper, Major James Walker, is responsible for providing strategic directions related to business operations and corporate functions for the company, as well as being responsible for the training and certifications at Nicholant Enterprises. He supervises the company's unarmed and armed security officer training program and conducts the local recertification and advanced training programs. Maj. Walker's professional background includes two years of service in the U.S. Army, 30 years of uniformed service as a State Highway Patrolman, two years as the Director of Security for the Ohio Secretary of State, five years as director of corporate security for a large hospital facility, and two years as security director for a regional healthcare system.
Before joining Nicholant, Maj. Walker served as Assistant Vice President of Corporate Security for Carolinas Healthcare System in Charlotte, North Carolina. There he was responsible for the management of 260 security officers including their pay, promotion, and discipline. In this role, he was also responsible for the deployment of security operations and resources. Before that position, he was the Director of Security for the Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. There he supervised 50 security officers, developed and implemented the training program, and established hospital security policies and procedures.
Before this corporate experience, Maj. Walker served as the Director of Security for the Ohio Secretary of State, responsible for the personal safety and security of the Secretary and oversaw the security for the property and employees of the Office of Secretary of State. He was also in charge of the secretary's gubernatorial candidate protection detail, responsible for the overall protection and safety of the candidate, including his logistical movement.
A state highway patrolman for 30 years, Maj. Walker is a proven leader and experienced trainer of law enforcement professionals. During his long and distinguished career, he supervised, trained, and directed State Highway Patrol organizations ranging in size from 30 to 1,430 officers.
Maj. Walker graduated from Wilberforce University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management and later received his MBA from Franklin University. During his career he received specialized training and education from the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute, Administrative Officer's Course, Dignitary Protection Training from the U.S. Secret Service in Washington, DC., and accreditation as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS).
