Sonja P. Nichols
President and CEO
Sonja Nichols is an entrepreneur, accomplished business woman, published author, trusted advisor, and an active civic and community leader. Prior to starting Nicholant Enterprises, she served as a Systems Engineer with IBM and as a marketing representative for PepsiCo.
A longtime supporter of the military and its service members, Ms. Nichols saw the decreasing size of America’s Armed Forces as a business opportunity. Understanding the extensive training, discipline, and professionalism possessed by U.S. military service members, she founded Nicholant, a Private Protective Services Company, and staffed it entirely with top quality military veterans. By doing so, Nicholant provides its clients with unrivaled armed and unarmed security officer protection for commercial and governmental facilities, and Executive Protection Services.
In addition to leading Nicholant, Ms. Nichols serves on the Executive Board of the Women’s Collective Giving Grantmakers Network. She is a member of the Women’s Impact Fund, served as the Board Chair and now serves on the Board of Advisors. She serves as a Trustee of Discovery Place, The Mint Museum of Charlotte, and sits on the Board of Good Friends and The Hopeway Foundation. Ms. Nichols is a member of The Robinson Center for Civic Leadership (Foundation For The Carolinas) and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She founded the South Charlotte Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and served as president. She has also served as the Regional Teen Advisor of the Mid-Atlantic Region of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
Ms. Nichols is a graduate of Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and an MBA in Marketing.
